Bold. Vibrant.
Honest + Ephemeral
And I guess a little bit different
My approach to shooting has always been to be honest and yet artistic. You won't find me doing heavily photoshopped images or unnatural poses.
I aim to provide you with a comprehensive record of your event, capturing the essence of the entire day.
The tones. The colors. The emotion.
What is your professional background and training?
After studying Studio Art at Dartmouth College I worked in print and tv as a stylist and food stylist where I cultivated my love of photos on set. I've been a professional photographer for 15 years and photographed hundreds of weddings.
How do we say your name?
Maël is awful close to "mile"! My-El
Where are you located?
Located in beautiful Ashburnham MA and available for regional travel.
Do you have travel fees?
Generally not for most of New England though certain locations like Block Island have small travel fees due to logistics.
How far in advance should I book?
Typically event dates are booked out 1-1.5 years in advance though we are often able to take short notice events if we have an opening.
What are your rates?
Family session rates begin at $600/hr.
Elopement rates begin at $1200.
Wedding packages are custom. Please inquire to receive our information booklet.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes, I offer engagement sessions to clients who have also booked their wedding with me. I also offer mini-engagement sessions as well.
Are all the images in your portfolio from real events?
Yes. Absolutely. It is extremely important for me to show you what I can do at a real live event. There are no "styled shoot" images on my website. I am firmly against photographers passing off styled shoots at venues as real weddings.
Who edits our images?
Only me. It is critical that I handle your images from creation to delivery. I go through every image myself and do not use AI to cull images. Color is extremely important to my work. I do not trust an editing company to handle the finalizing of your images.
Who is your second photographer?
I only use other professionals who own their own business as additional photographers. Any second photographer will have been in the business over a decade like myself.
Is photography your only job?
Nope! Not anymore! We purchased an old house with a parcel of land a couple of years ago where I pursue one of my many loves- flower breeding. We now focus on small scale sustainable regenerative farming and flower breeding for part of the year. You can follow our story on Instagram and our CSA program will start in 2026.
Are you insured?
Of course. I carry liability and equipment insurance. An insurance certificate is required for many venues.
Do you bring backup equipment?
Absolutely. No professional should shoot any event without multiple bodies and extra lenses and lighting equipment.
Do you send sneak peeks?
Yes I love sending sneak peeks. If you are going on your honeymoon directly after the event I'll discuss when you might like to receive them.
How are our images delivered?
Your final images will be available in an online gallery for you to download and share with your loved ones.
What kind of cameras do you use?
Only the best! I use a variety of cameras to create my distinctive work. My main cameras are a Hasselblad 503cw for medium format film, a Hasselblad 907x for medium format digital, and Sony and Canon mirrorless bodies for fast paced action. I use a variety of lenses, from classic rare vintage lenses to state of the art modern lenses. I also utilize a variety of instant cameras on request.
Do you shoot film or digital?
I shoot both digital and film and have always done so. Each are tools for telling the story of your day.
Film is included as part of your investment but if you want even more film I'm happy to discuss custom options including Instax + Polaroid and Large Format Photography.
How many photos do we receive?
As many as I can muster! Honestly there are no set amounts. What you receive will depend on events of the day and the number of shooters. I always aim to tell a story in its fullest. I don't hold back images for the sake of delivering fewer.
When do we receive our images?
Depending on event type you can expect your turnaround to be between 2-6 weeks. Multi-day events will take longer to edit than single day events.
How do we book you? What's next?
Please fill out the form with information on your event! You'll receive a message within 48 hours usually with our info booklet and availability. If we are not available on your date I'm happy to redirect you to another peer with a similar approach to my own.
We require a signed contract and 30% deposit to hold any dates. Our contract is available to sign online and with online payment as well.
I like to do either an initial phone call or a vide chat to say hi during booking. Happy to introduce you to one of our farm's roosters during the call! Additionally 30-45 days prior to your event I like to do a larger planning meeting.
